KGTML Awards Civil Works Contract to AMCORP
Karachi Gateway Terminal Multipurpose (Private) Limited (KGTML), part of AD Ports Group’s international ports operating arm - Noatum Ports, has awarded the civil works contract for the development of the first phase of Pakistan’s first fully integrated and advanced multipurpose terminal at Karachi Port to AMCORP Engineering & Construction Pvt. Ltd., one of Pakistan’s leading infrastructure and civil engineering firms.
The contract marks a significant milestone in KGTML’s expansion programme and underlines Noatum Ports’ continued commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s maritime infrastructure and supporting the country’s long-term trade growth.
The project involves the development of advanced civil infrastructure to support fully automated and enclosed conveying, storage and handling systems for bulk cargo, alongside the establishment of Pakistan’s first fully automated bulk export terminal. Designed to operate in a dust-free and environmentally responsible manner through specialised automated loaders capable of handling gearless vessels, the facility will modernise bulk operations at Karachi Port and in addition to import cargo handling it will facilitate export bulk cargo capacity of up to 8 million tonnes per annum, following completion of its first phase.
The facility is expected to be among the most advanced multipurpose terminals in the region, capable of accommodating post-Panamax vessels and significantly improving vessel turnaround time. The enhanced operational capacity will contribute to lower freight costs for trade, improved schedule reliability, and strengthened competitiveness for Pakistan’s importers and exporters.
