Step into the future: Autoterminal Barcelona launches the eGate Project

Introducing the eGate Project
At Autoterminal Barcelona, we are always working to innovate and enhance our operations to meet the evolving needs of the global shipping industry. Our latest initiative, the eGate Project, is a reflection to this commitment. This cutting-edge project aims to revolutionise the way we manage port access, ensuring efficiency, security, and sustainability.
What is eGate about?
eGate is an advanced digital platform designed to streamline the entry and exit processes at the ports. By leveraging advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and the Internet of Things (IoT), eGate offers a seamless and secure experience for all port users. The platform integrates with existing port infrastructures, providing real-time data and analytics to optimise operations. This project has three key initiatives: Inspection Arches, Accesses and Fibre Optic Network.
Benefits of the Inspection Arches
Security is essential in port operations, and eGate takes this to the next level. The platform uses biometric and facial authentication, and automated vehicle identification to ensure that only authorised members and vehicles have access to the port. This reduces the risk of unauthorised entries and boosts overall security.
Strengths of Accesses
The eGate Project is designed to minimise delays and improve the flow of traffic within the port. By automating entry and exit processes, the platform reduces the need for manual checks and also paperwork, allowing for faster turnaround times.
Advantages of the Fibre Optic Network
This initiative is designed to enhance communication speeds and data processing capabilities. It involves designing a minimal fibre optic network in a ring configuration and creating aggregated channels for scenarios requiring higher bandwidth.
Embracing sustainability
In line with Noatum Ports' commitment to sustainability, eGate contributes to reducing the environmental impact of port operations. The platform's efficient management system helps to lower emissions by reducing non-operational times and optimising vehicle movements. In addition, the use of digital documentation minimises paper waste, which supports our green initiatives.
Looking ahead: a vision for the future
The eGate Project was created in response to the growing demand for smarter and more secure port operations. Recognising this challenge, Autoterminal Barcelona began on a journey to develop a state- of-the-art solution that would address these issues head-on. As we continue to refine and expand the platform, we are confident that eGate will set a new standard for port operations.
Thank you to the Government of Spain for supporting this initiative thanks to the Next Generation EU funds, without which it would not be possible.
